This was the criteria:

The main criteria is the pub must sell good real ale preferably a selection of 2 or more ales. The other criteria to take into account although these don’t all have to be met. Have a winter ale e.g. a porter or stout, have a real fire log or coal or a gas or electric fire that looks warming and is. The pub is warm and welcoming and you would recommend it to visitors and friends. The pub serves good winter warming food. The only one of the above that isa must is the first one and at least one other should be available before you nominate your selection.

Here is an excerpt from the nomination:

Since being taken over by a temporary landlord it has undergone a considerable change in character. Steve, the temporary landlord, is welcoming and keeps his beer to an exceptionally high standard. It is, in my view, rare to be able to experience the natural conditioning on the palate as well as to be able to see it the glass. The pub only offers Rebellion IPA but I believe that it is better to offer one well served beer than two or more that are average.

The pub serves good winter food and has just held a winter fish festival. The fish and chips is exceptional and I’d be happy to recommend it.
